Description:

  • Basic Structure: The gear rack has teeth of the same size and shape cut at equal intervals along a flat surface or a straight rod. It can be regarded as a part of a cylindrical gear with an infinite pitch - circle diameter. There are straight - tooth racks and helical - tooth racks, which are used in pairs with straight - tooth cylindrical gears and helical - tooth cylindrical gears respectively.
  • Working Principle: By meshing with a cylindrical gear pinion, the gear rack converts rotational motion into linear motion. Conversely, when a linear force is applied to the gear rack, it can cause the mating gear or pinion to rotate, realizing the conversion from linear motion to rotational motion.
  • Main Parameters: The main parameters include addendum height, dedendum height, tooth height, tooth thickness, and pitch. Since the tooth profile of the gear rack is a straight line, each point on the tooth profile has the same pressure angle, which is equal to the inclination angle of the tooth profile (called the tooth - form angle), and the standard value is 20 °. The line parallel to the addendum line and with the tooth thickness equal to the tooth space width is called the reference line (mid - line), which is the reference line for calculating the size of the gear rack.
